"Telling old stories, and singing songs, that make me think about where I came from"

About me

Alas, my time in Sweden has come to an end. In June 2013 I graduated from Uppsala University and I’m now back in Scotland working full-time in politics.

This blog never quite became the regular feature I had originally intended it to be. Yet, it was an intermittent friend who let me bounce ideas around about the country that had so kindly taken me in.

So, what now: I may return to some blogging in the future on a different page. I think I will leave A Scot in Sweden as a reminder of the things I learnt while in Uppsala, the wonderful people I met, and as a memorial to all that was good, and bad, about being a Scot in Sweden.

If anyone happens to be reading this, I’ll take this opportunity to highlight a charity journey I will be undertaking:

Best wishes,

Craig

Came here to read about how many bottles of chivas your bringing, not about this gov stuff.

    Ta.

  2. Jees, give me a chance. I’m sure I’ll be posting about the price of alcohol in Sweden and lamenting the cheap concoctions back home.

Plus, the gov stuff is interesting to Scots – it’s an unusual time for us since we have just elected the first ever majority Government, a Government which is committed to holding a referendum on independence.

Anyway, yeah, the drink. I paid the equivalent of £12 for two pints of Guinness in Uppsala!

  3. MATEEEEEEEEEEE

12 pounds for fucking 2 pints of guinness??

    they are fucking maaad!

Yeah, it’s crazy. You can get subsidised alcohol in the student nations (which are a bit like student unions). Anyway, I’ll be sure to have a couple of bottles of whiskey for going across.

  5. Not to worry Craig, come October 1st, all supermarket drink promotions are to be, essentially, banned.

    Still cheaper than Sweden though…..

  9. Cool blog. I am living in Glasgow but spend a lot of time in Sweden visiting my girlfriend and will be moving over full time next year. I did a lot of travel blogging for a few years so I hope to do something similar to this when the time comes.
